The Metropolitan Court will continue to host its free monthly civil legal clinics throughout 2023. Volunteer attorneys will be available each month by phone to provide free legal advice in the following areas: Landlord/Tenant Matters, Consumer Rights, Contract Disputes, Employee Wage Claims, and Consumer Debt. The clinics are held on the second Friday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“We are thrilled to continue offering this service to the public throughout the new year. The clinics will continue telephonically this year with feedback that this method is working best at this time for volunteer attorneys and participants alike,” said Chief Judge Maria I. Dominguez.
To sign up, or if you are an attorney interested in volunteering with the program, please contact Renee Valdez at (505) 841-9817 or at metrrmv@nmcourts.gov. Participants should have all documents and paperwork pertaining to their case on-hand during their telephonic consultation.
Consultations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and the clinic can serve a maximum of 25 individuals each month. Spanish-language interpreters are available upon request.
The clinics are sponsored by the State Bar of New Mexico Legal Services and Programs Committee. The Metropolitan Court has been hosting the clinics since 2017.
