We have had reports of cyber criminals imitating court telephone numbers (“spoofing”) and demanding that citizens pay money for fines or fees in cases involving relatives. These calls are not valid. New Mexico Courts will never call citizens to ask for payments of any kind.

Monthly Legal Clinics Continue Virtually

The Metropolitan Court continues to host FREE monthly legal clinics the second Friday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteer attorneys are available telephonically to provide free civil legal advice in the following areas of law: Landlord/Tenant, Consumer Rights, Trial Preparation, Employee Wage Claims, Debt/Bankruptcy and/or Discovery. Consults are first-come, first-served, and attendance is limited to 25 each month. Spanish-language interpreters are available upon request.

To sign up, or if you’re an attorney interested in volunteering with the program, please contact Renee Valdez at (505) 841-9817 or at metrrmv@nmcourts.gov. Participants should have all documents and paperwork pertaining to their case on-hand during their consultation.

The clinics are sponsored by the State Bar of New Mexico Legal Services and Programs Committee. Metro Court has been hosting the clinics since 2017.
