The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Overdose Prevention, Treatment and Intervention Court is a diversion program focused on connecting those at high risk of overdose with lifesaving resources and treatment at the soonest possible opportunity.

The OPT-In Court seeks to address the fentanyl addiction and overdose crisis in our community by identifying and diverting high risk individuals from jail immediately into treatment with the goal of safely detoxing, treating, and stabilizing these individuals. The Honorable Claire A. McDaniel presides over OPT-In Court.

Opt-In Court is a collaborative effort among Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court, Office of the District Attorney, Law Offices of the Public Defender, the Private Defense Bar, Community Providers, and persons with lived experiences.

Opt-In Court participants are quickly connected to life-saving treatment such as detox services, inpatient treatment and medication assisted treatment. These services will assist individuals in becoming medically stable so they can take the next steps toward recovery and stability. Participants are also required to meet with a case manager weekly throughout the program.
