However, cameras are not permitted inside the courthouse, and recording or livestreaming of in-person or virtual hearings is prohibited without prior approval from the Court.
To request camera clearance or permission to record remotely, please contact Public Information Officer Camille Cordova at (505) 401-6149 at least 24 hours in advance, or as soon as practicable.
Courthouse security will not allow cameras or other audio or video recording equipment into the building without prior approval.
The Court follows the guidelines laid out in New Mexico Supreme Court Rule 23-107 regarding the broadcasting, televising, photographing and recording of court proceedings. These guidelines are intended to preserve the dignity of proceedings and ensure a fair and impartial hearing. Photographers and videographers are strictly prohibited from capturing images or video of jurors or prospective jurors.
Interviews are not permitted inside courtrooms. Reporters or videographers conducting interviews in hallways or other areas of the courthouse must do so courteously and without disrupting court operations, staff, or visitors. If a party declines an interview, they must not be approached further while inside the courthouse or on court property.
Members of the media may bring cell phones into the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse; however, they are to be used for communication purposes only. The use of cell phone cameras or video recording is strictly prohibited anywhere within the courthouse. Cell phones must be placed on silent mode upon entering a courtroom. Social media use inside a courtroom is not permitted without prior approval from the presiding judge.
Filming in the court’s exterior courtyard is permitted, provided it does not impede access to or from the courthouse.
