The Metropolitan Court will provide a one-stop shop for available resources in the community at its Metro Court Resource Day event on Thursday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the outdoor courtyard.

The public event will feature 56 local community service providers that offer everything from treatment options to employment resources to include; Albuquerque Center for Hope & Recovery, Department of Workforce Solutions, and CJM Transitional Housing, to name a few. Those in attendance will also hear from Treatment Court graduates, whose lives have been transformed by the treatment and support provided through the program.

“Metro Court has been at the forefront of establishing successful and nationally-recognized Treatment Courts for 29 years now. During National Treatment Court Month, we want to celebrate those who have turned their lives around through these programs and recognize the community providers who play a crucial role in their recovery,” said Chief Judge Joshua J. Sánchez, who also presides over the Behavioral Health Court and Behavioral Health Resource Connections.

Treatment Courts combine evidence-based care, such as substance use disorder services and mental health support, with regular court supervision. These courts aim to enhance community safety, while promoting evidence–based practices that ensure offender accountability and support rehabilitation.

National Treatment Court Month is coordinated by All Rise, the training, membership, and advocacy organization for justice system innovation addressing substance use and mental health at every intercept point. There are more than 4,000 treatment courts in the United States, annually serving more than 150,000 people. These programs provide an alternative to incarceration that effectively breaks the cycle of crime and addiction and improves lives, saves taxpayer dollars, and reunites families.
