Hours of Operation

The Court’s Customer Service Division opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and closes at 5:00 p.m.

To bond someone out of the Metropolitan Detention Center, visit the court’s in-custody bonding window located in the Customer Service Division during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You may also post a bond at the court’s external walk-up Bonding Window, located on the south end of the building.  The Bonding Window is open from 3:00-10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

To complete a transaction, you need to bring cash to post the bond, a valid state identification card or driver’s license, and the name of the person in-custody.  After the bond has been posted, the clerk will process the necessary paperwork and contact the jail for release.

The Courthouse is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Most Judges begin court at 8:30 a.m.
The Probation Lobby is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Inclement Weather Policy for Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court

The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court will not necessarily follow Albuquerque Public School closure or delay decisions. The authority to close the Court or delay opening of the court will rest with the Chief Judge or the Chief Judge’s designee. The court’s schedule under these circumstances will be conveyed as soon as possible to local media outlets and will be posted on the homepage of the court’s website.

Early Release

When severe weather or other dangerous conditions exist, the Chief Judge/Designee will determine if court will be closed down early in order to allow employees and court customers to return home safely.

Court Closure

When inclement weather or emergency conditions exist, court closure decisions will be made by the Chief Judge/Designee and will be communicated with local news media and posted on the homepage of the Court’s website as soon as possible.

If you had a hearing set on a day the court was closed, you will receive a rescheduling notice in the mail. If you were scheduled for jury service, please visit the Jury section of our webpage for further details or call 505-841-8141 when the court reopens.

Defendants who had a probation appointment scheduled on the day of a court closure should call 505-841-8189 or report directly to the Probation Division the following business day.
