Metro Court’s Probation Officers supervise an average caseload of about 150 defendants each.

In general, there are about 1,500 defendants being supervised by 20 probation officers. The average time for supervision varies from three months to one year. Drug screening tests are given to all defendants on their first visits to the unit, and randomly thereafter. Defendants included in this population are those placed on supervision for all cases not connected with specialty courts or intervention programs. Categories include regular supervision, restitution, monitoring counseling, compliance and the preparation of pre-sentence reports for judges.
