Effective June 17, 2024:
Please note several process changes as the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court recently upgraded its Public Parking Garage software system.
With this change, there is no longer a parking booth attendant available upon exiting the garage. Instead, the upgrade has allowed for automated ticketing, payment, and badging.
Navigating the New System & How to Pay for Parking:
When entering the garage, a ticket will need to be obtained from the kiosk. This ticket will have a unique barcode on the front, along with arrival time and a coded ticket number.
There are two options available to pay for parking: (1) at the pay stations located at each of the parking garage exits that accept credit cards ONLY, and (2) at the pay-on-foot station located in the 1st floor public parking garage lobby, where cash or credit card payment is accepted.
Parking Validation & Badging:
For validated parking tickets, the court is no longer utilizing the manual hand-stamped validations. Instead, a validation barcode sticker will need to be obtained.
Officers – Officers can no longer write their badge number on a parking ticket and hand it to the booth attendant to validate parking. If an officer is attending a hearing as a witness or prosecutor, the officer may go to the Customer Service Information Desk or Records Viewing Room Window and show their badge and provide the case number(s) to the hearings they are present for. Once confirmed, the clerk will provide the officer with a sticker to put on the back of his or her parking ticket. All other officers must pay the hourly/daily rate or reach out to SP Plus to establish a monthly parking account.
Witnesses – Witnesses appearing for a hearing may report to the Customer Service Information Desk or Records Viewing Room Window and show the clerk their subpoena on the case. Once confirmed, the clerk will provide the witness with a validation barcode sticker to place on the back of their parking ticket.
Metropolitan Court, Second Judicial District Court & U.S. Federal Court Jurors – The downtown area courts will utilize the validation barcode stickers to validate a juror’s parking ticket. Court staff will provide each juror with a sticker to place on the back of their parking ticket. Each court will also have access to lunch stickers for jurors who decide to leave and return.
Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office – The Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office will continue to have badge access based on the current monthly employee account and fleet account the DA’s office has set up with SP Plus.
If assistance is needed when entering or exiting the Public Parking Garage, a ‘Help’ button is available on the kiosk screens that will prompt users to select the ‘Call Support’ option. Support is available 24/7.
