The judges of the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court have named Lissa Lowe the court’s next Court Executive Officer (CEO) effective today. Ms. Lowe succeeds Robert L. Padilla, who retired at the end of March.

Ms. Lowe previously served as a Deputy Court Executive Officer (DCEO), where she oversaw various divisions of the Metropolitan Court. Ms. Lowe started her career with the court in 2007 as a probation officer and was promoted several times within the Probation and Specialty Courts Divisions.

With an extensive background in treatment courts and diversion programs, Ms. Lowe worked as the court’s Specialty Courts Division Director for several years before joining the Administrative team in 2021.

“Being a part of this well-run court for nearly two decades has prepared me for the challenging nature of this important role. I look forward to continuing to work with our dedicated judges, staff, and justice partners as we continue to improve processes while providing equal and efficient access to justice,” said Ms. Lowe.

Before joining the court, Ms. Lowe worked as a probation and parole officer with the New Mexico Corrections Department and as a legal assistant for New Mexico’s Child Support Enforcement Division.

An Albuquerque native, Ms. Lowe earned dual undergraduate degrees in Criminology and Spanish from the University of New Mexico and is a proud graduate of St. Pius X High School.

As CEO, Ms. Lowe is responsible for the administrative functions of the state court to include personnel matters, maintaining and securing the nearly 250-thousand square foot courthouse and adjoining properties and advocating to the state legislature for the court’s needed resources.
